Friday, Morning Prayer

I like this one:

God our Father,
you conquer the darkness of ignorance
by the light of your Word.
Strengthen within our hearts
the faith you have given us;
let not temptation ever quench the fire
that your love has kindled within us.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Amen, and Yes! Please!

Daytime Prayer

Hymn (I got to pick, so I’m going in numerical order here):
Breathe on Me, Breath of God

Breathe on me, breath of God,
Fill me with life anew,
That I may love the things you love,
And do what you would do.

Breathe on me, breath of God,
Until my heart is pure,
Until with you I have one will,
To live and to endure.

Breathe on me, breath of God,
My soul with grace refine,
Until this earthly part of me,
Glows with your fire divine.

Breathe on me, breath of God,
So I shall never die,
But live with you the perfect life
In your eternity.

Who is my Twilight Boy?

Edward Cullen

Edward is a true romantic, is very intelligant, is a great listener, likes to do things traditionally, is very protective and would sacrifice his life for his love in an instant. You are the perfect girl for this sexy vampire because you, too, are old-fashioned and devoted to love. Congratulations!

Well, you know, because online quizzes are just SO accurate! 🙂
I just finished reading the fourth book in the saga. Good read. 🙂

Last Evening of the Liturgical Year

We only have a few bare moments left of this liturgical year! Currently, I am in a prayerful mood, and am especially thankful for my priests.

From the book, “The Rise of Pope Benedict,” by John Allen, Jr., “…the only genuine basis for human rights, which is the belief that every human being has transcendent value because he or she is a child of God,” (178).

From the Magnificat, “Be vigilant that you may have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent,” (398).
“Protect us, Lord, as we stay awake; watch over us as we sleep, that awake, we may keep watch with Christ, and asleep, rest in his peace,” (28).
“O God, protect our homes and neighborhoods, our loved ones and ourselves this night. Shelter in your love all who fear the terror of the night or the unseen danger that roams in the darkness. Bring us all in safety to the light of a new day in which to sing your praises, through Christ our Lord. Amen,” (28).

May this coming new year in the church be one filled with grace for you and lead you on the journey closer to Him who is the love which we are all seeking.

God bless! 🙂

I have posted about 600 more photos from our World Youth Day pilgrimage to Australia on my Flickr account.

Since I have determined that my monitor is not displaying correctly, these are all uncorrected, so sorry if they are too light or too dark or the wrong color — I wouldn’t normally post them like that.

The upside is that since I am not correcting them, I will be able to post them like crazy!! So, soon I will have ALL of my photos from the trip up on the site for you to look at! 🙂

One biiiiiiillion photos! 🙂 Aren’t you excited? 🙂

This particular one is one of my favorites. We woke up before dawn to walk down to the Sydney Harbour Bridge to watch the rising of the sun over the harbour.

Church Fathers by Pope Benedict XVI

Yes!!! It finally arrived!

One guess as to what I will be devouring this evening. Heeheehee.

I am particularly eager to hear what the Pope has to say about St. Augustine, because as you all know (because I haven’t been very quiet about it), I have been having some difficulties with some of his writing. A lot I found to be very good and helpful. I even found one book that had a different translation than mine, which helped to give more meaning (to me anyway) of what he wrote. (In the same way that Psalm 102 made MUCH more of an impact on me when I read it in the RSV, as opposed to the NAB.)

Happy Halloween!

Cute lunch story:

I’m in the cafeteria picking out my soup, and notice that they have cute little Halloween names, which is awesome. A man next to me looks over and says, “Oh, you shouldn’t have that. Day like today, you should be having the ‘Chili con Carnage’.”

I give him a big smile and gesture to my soup, “But this is the ‘Good Choice Chicken and Rice’.”

He looks at me again and says, “Mmm. Yes. I see your halo. Okay.” 🙂

Some Days When You Wake Up…

… you look in the mirror and say, “Yes! I am DED SECKSI! Who wouldn’t want this?!?” as you look over your nighttime attire:

a red and cream colored striped long sleeve shirt
tangerine shorts with yellow and pink butterflies on them
bright cerulean and lime colored ladybug socks

Move over Paris! The fashion capital of the world is relocating!! 🙂

Thank you, St. Christopher!

Some days, I have a rich prayer life. Usually follows stupidity. Or, in this case, a long drive home from Saline when all your gas money is in Troy.

Thank you! Thank you! I made it to the gas station!

Prayer *is* stronger than espresso!
