Happy Thursday!

I think today should be Optimism Thursday — just because.

Let’s try an exercise in optimism. Post in the comments what you are optimistic about, thankful for or looking forward to!

While terribly sad for all the people affected by the earthquake disaster in Haiti, I am encouraged by the people who have been quick to give of themselves for their brothers in need.

I am hopeful that this Year of the Priest will be incredibly fruitful, both for the priests themselves as they benefit from the grace offered and multitude of prayers from the faithful, as well as people in general, as they learn more of the vocation of the priesthood and, concurrently, the vocation of the laity.

As we heard recently, it a duty of the lay person to evangelize and sanctify the world. It is the duty of the priest to equip the laity for this task.

No one lives in a bubble — Thanks be to God! We all rely on each other and live in community and in communion.

God’s peace and love to you all!

Adam Update

I got a call from Adam’s mother last night. Adam is not doing well. He’s currently on a ventilator at Troy Beaumont hospital. His MRI yesterday showed inoperable brain metastases.

Please keep praying for Adam, and his family.

Desperate Times, Desperate Measures

Okay, with Neko out of commission, I had to pull out my dinosaur laptop. Seriously, it took 20 minutes to boot. And forget about looking up anything online. 🙂 But, it did function, just really, really slowly. 🙂

I hope that my desktop is fixable. Or that someone reading this blog will have some extra money that they don’t know what to do with, and would like to buy me a brand-spanking new MacBook, for me to take with me to grad school. 🙂 That would be awesome! 🙂

Speaking of school, classes start on May 4, and I take my GREs this Saturday. Kinda nervous about that. I’m pretty sure I’ve forgotten everything they are going to test me on. Pray for me, please! 🙂

There Was Much Sadness…

Yesterday, my computer was in the middle of uploading photos and video and then the anti-virus decided for some odd reason to kick on. then, my computer hung. When I tried to reboot, it froze on the booting screen. Then, it wouldn’t do anything, apparently, but turn on the fans. I think I need help. 😦

Short Note on Prayer

“Prayer lifts the soul into the heavens where it hugs God in an indescribable embrace.

Prayer is the desire for God, an indescribable devotion, not given by man but brought about by God’s grace. As St Paul says: For when we cannot choose words in order to pray properly, the Spirit himself intercedes on our behalf in a way that could never be put into words.” — From the Office of the Readings

What a great thing to keep in mind! That prayer is a gift. It is not my list of demands to God, but the free gift of a relationship with Him. He *allows* us to communicate with Him. He doesn’t have to. How often do we — do I — take for granted the fact that I can talk to God, and He can speak to me?

I have had it happen before where I am completely unable to string together a coherent thought, but have the desire to communicate something to God. But God knows even before we do, so the words aren’t really necessary; and being coherent isn’t necessary, because He has perfect understanding. This is not to say that we shouldn’t pray, because God hears us anyway. As the way we were made, God is constantly inviting us to respond to Him and to seek a relationship with Him. Prayer is a gift, but we need to cooperate.

May the Lord God bless you!

Please pray for Blàse

Please pray for Blàse, a 3-week-old little boy who is in the NICU with many medical difficulties, mostly cardiac. He recently had open heart surgery, and he and his family could really use your prayers.

Thank you, so very much!

WE ARE GOING TO JAMAICA!!!!!!!

Bought the tickets this evening to Montego Bay!

I am so excited! We will be staying on this beach for 4 days and 3 nights at the end of March. I am so sick of all the cold weather here with the snow and the ice and the more snow and the lack of sun. I first started thinking about running away to somewhere warm when I saw tickets to Jamaica selling for $108 round-trip. That’s not something to pass up! But, I didn’t end up getting those tickets. 😦 We DID get a pretty sweet deal anyway.

I am so looking forward to planting myself on the beach with a good book and wiping away all traces of scurvy with tons of sunshine and lots of yummy fruit. Of course, our hotel is right in the middle of the so-called “Hip” district, so we’ll probably see tons of the nightlife, too! 🙂

And, of course, this will be during Lent…so we will just have to give up cold weather as our penance! 🙂 Okay, not really, but it is fun to say.

Yippee!
